The first few seasons were so fricking kino. I'm still salty that the latter ones spoiled it so badly. This is one of my favorite scenes.

Yes this is a weekly thread, do not question me
What have you plebs been watching? How was it? Tell us!
NO ANIME
Black Mirror season 6 was pretty mid, and some episodes were downright awful (werewolves wtf)
The Bear might be the best show of the fricking year, go watch it if you haven't
Other than that I think TV is fricking dead for the forseeable future. HBO MAX has some cool stuff in the pipeline, but that is months or years away
Good time to get into your backlog
If you need reccs, you know who to ask

Lol what a joke of a movie. Indiana Jones 5 with 80 year old Harrison Ford sounds like a Simpsons bit.
Also I would have linked to a BoxOffice thread I’d saved claiming it would make over a billion but I think the dude deleted that post

That lady is so fricking annoying. She’s screaming and being r-slurred every second she’s on screen. I can’t take it.

Watched Dredd a while back and finally watched the 1995 version. Probably Schneider's best performance, never finished Demolition Man because he was so grating. If you edited out his character in this movie there would be almost no difference to the plot.
Actually pretty good for 90s sci fi, lots of props and they worked around the limits of the sfx mostly. Never read the comics but feels more like a comic book movie than Dredd, which imo was middling. As good or even better of a movie than running man, imo.
!r-slurs what's ur favorite muscle man sci fi

Alan Arkin will be much missed; a legend of stage and screen since the early 1960s. He kept working right up until the end.
Jack Lemon was far more than that other guy in drag who gets abducted by an elderly homosexual at the end of Some Like it Hot. He was in the Odd Couple too.
Unbothered. Moisturized. Happy. In His Lane. Focused. Flourishing.
The fricks Ed Harris does not give could fill oceans. Seen here in the criminally underrated George Romero film Knightriders.
Jonathan Pryce is a Bong actor. He is also not Vietnamese which is why he wasn't allowed to play a Vietnamese character when Miss Saigon moved from London's West End to Broadway. He was also in Brazil (seen above) which is basically the anti-consumer take on 1984 made by Terry Gilliam- well worth looking at.
Well I suppose things had to go wrong for someone. I mean, it's not like someone else could have turned out worse...
Oh.

I posted a clip of Robin Williams's monologue from this movie as a part of advice I gave today, and this analysis played after that and made me appreciate it as an even greater film than I already had:
I had to watch it again. Forgive me for moral stragging, but this encapsulates exactly what is wrong with most of us here and probably the world at large: A compulsion to aggressively mock and belittle others as a defense mechanism to avoid facing our own short comings and challenges. Even though, unlike Will, we are not the world's smartest people, but in fact r-slurred and neurodivergent.
The content of this film just scratches the surface of how unique it is. Not only did it give Robin Williams his best serious acting role, but it also reminds us of how good Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are (or at least were), who don't get as much respect as they deserve.
Both their performances were just okay, but the only meaty character was played by Robin Williams, let's face it. What is really impressive is that, on top of acting, they were both the screen writers of this film and won a well deserved Oscar because of it.
They were both in their 20s. This is so rare to see even in shitty movies that make it to the big screen, let alone being personally selected for an Oscar.
Anyway, watch this analysis of the movie if you already have seen it. Watch the darn film if you haven't.

Knew this show way back, and watched some here and there but never really cared. The fake cringe shit in this episode is astounding. Laughed out loud when he described how he learned how to jump and roll to avoid injury “””from the special forces””””
about 4.5 minutes in, he jumps from what is maybe like 8 feet into sand after describing what being rimrocked meansand how it can be lethal. Insane that people back then thought this show was real to any extent, I remember the neighborhood/school gossip when it was revealed he was actually faking it all and how he was a kitty actor etc.
on hulu btw or probably very easy to pirate
