Call me a chud, there's no way I believe this

About 2% of the total went to alcohol, cigarettes and drug expenses

:marseyxdoubt:

Any homeless camp on the sidewalk with open drug use definitely has more than $15/mo spend on drugs, alchy, and cigs. Isn't a pack of cigs in the west coast like $10 for a single pack alone?

I think a lot of productive hardworking people's money has been spent on propaganda whose sole intention is to ensure that people equate homeless people to "mentally ill drug addicts" rather than, say, "private equity real estate buyup refugees"

Is private equity in the fentalnyl business :marseybeanquestion: and are we really back pedaling so hard we are going to ignore mental health issues and homelessness?

Prepare for the enshittification and bedbathandbeyonding of Magic the gathering.

If I had to make a guess as to why, given the fact that the people they laid off were all senior leaders and the numbers are good, it would be preparing for a pump and dump.

if you want to be able to pump and dump a really strong brand then you need to be able to have leaders who don't mind burning the brands equity in order to make money. My guess is that specifically what intending to do here.

Change the leadership, make new “sticky” products, pump revenue numbers, then spin out a public offering of the magic brand that looks like a great new reboot and refresh.

However the brand is only there to smuggle in the subscription model around new products that have strong margin. Everyone* gets rich cause they slaughtered their fattest pig and yet another cultural staple is killed.

>However the brand is only there to smuggle in the subscription model around new products that have strong margin

you know like selling pieces of paper for over a $100 a box for the last few decades?

I've seen people say that it would be nice to regulate loot boxes in video games, but they can't figure out how to do it without banning Magic's business model. I never understood why that would be a problem.

The genius thing about Magic is that it doesn't place individual value on a card... Video games don't have such safeguards. It's all on the studios servers and they can adjust value on the fly... I feel that's an intrinsic difference that places a video game closer to a casino ("the house always wins") than a TCG (throw out what you think is worth and let the community sort it out).

Man mods his bionic arm, interfaces with synth, DJs like a madman

@MayflyACK-98 I think you might find this interesting

Don't let anyone tell you that we're living in a boring cyberpunk dystopia, because things do get very interesting every once in a while

PART 1:

PART 2:

TL;DW: A prosthetic arm has 2 independent neural sensors that trigger on contraction of specific muscles and produce signals needed to actuate the arm. By removing the 'hand' part of the arm, the wires carrying the signal can be rerouted into an amplifier circuit which maps it to a 0-10 volt range. With the addition of a proper jack and some plug-in wires, this allows for each of the two outputs to be wired to a different filter in the modular synth and use the signal as a control voltage to turn them on or off and by how much. The man says it feels very intuitive and natural to do so.

In the 2nd video the design is modified so that it fits within a new 3-d printed hand attachment that features some knobs (which he doesn't really mention but I'd guess they're used for adjusting sensitivity) and also has a pirate hook which can be used to push buttons manually.
