Whenever Indians are rioting or something they're always beating each other with long poles. In most countries people are going at each other with knives, hammers, all kinds of things but Indians just hit each other with sticks. To describe it in terms of Darklands it's like everyone maxed out their Pole Arms skill. There's got to be some cultural reason for it.
Maybe it's related to agricultural practices? Staying on the Darklands theme, when the Bohemian peasants rose up against the Church it's said that they often used the flail because they were used to it from the tool they used to thresh wheat in civilian life.

I assume it's just because these usually start as "peaceful" protests with flags(even in the video they are using flag sticks to hit each other) and such that turn violent. In India these days police are extremely wary and won't allow any mass gathering if they even get a hint of more dangerous weapons being brought.
