I know that feel; the built-in photoshop brushes are basically useless. There are brush packs all over the place though, both free and paid. I think Gumroad is a good place to look.
In my case I practically only used one built-in brush on Procreate for iPad:
Anything with crunchy edges and a little opacity falloff with pressure should work.

Love the lighting. How do you accomplish this painterly look? Ive tried photoshop but it always looks kinda mushy and airbrushed
