Net zero is not really to blame for that, although it is a convenient scapegoat.
The issue is that the electricity and broader energy industry has spent the last 35 years living off the inheritance of the nationalised energy industries.
Now that inheritence is finally wearing out and the pseudo market in electricity is collapsing under the weight of its own contradictions.

Definitely between a rock & a hard place on this one.
On one hand if you're resident here you should be paying your fair share of taxes.
On the other hand, the UK has the 3rd largest outflow of USD millionaires in the world, behind China & India (in total, not per capita, where we're 1st by some margin). Even with their tax breaks most of these people contributed significantly more to the UK coffers than the average tax payer.

Huh troo apparently my bad. I saw a graph comparing production of their largest private operator to entire countries and projected.
Their largest soe produces 132 mmt alone a year.
Just 8 short of India's entire output. The private one produces 25mmt just 6 short of Iran.

It is a policy choice by the CCP, they will help SOEs and even 'private' enterprises eat losses to overproduce as long as the CCP wants to maintain the strategic status quo of dominating global steel
The word 'private' in business doesn't mean anything in China. Every enterprise above a certain scale that isn't an SOE officially is a de facto SOE either thru partnership and kickbacks with the government and/or with the CCP requiring supervisory board members
even when the CCP has no ownership on paper nothing can escape their political gravity well

There's strategic reasons for it
military is literally footing something like 20-30% of cost lol and economic ones aren't very minor either you know around 15M people live in the Kashmir valley lol. Its small by Indian standards but not really that small.
Cutting this down to 8-9 hours will make it an overnight journey. Introducing it to rail network will turbo charge tourism numbers, since flight costs there from Delhi are always on higher end because of no other alternative.
