maybe if we had less of an open border policy then US guns would have a harder time getting to mexico. Maybe if she'd habdle the cartels in her country theyd be procuring fewer firearms. She says it cant be fixed because she, like many in the mexican gov, is probably a cartel member herself.

Naturally it's so untrue it may as well be a lie. They trade drugs for guns, stop the drugs and the flow of guns and ammo will also stop.
But this is all a moot point because Mexico has factories that can make these guns. The only reason they don't make the guns down south is because it's easier to get them legally ("legally") in America and smuggle them.
Also cartels have been caught with Israeli military gear. If they can smuggle rifles from Israel and across the world back to Mexico they can get them from anywhere.
