Some comparisons:

  • The Beirut explosion was up to around 1,100 Tons TNT equivalent of explosive power.

  • The nuke dropped on Hiroshima (Little Boy) was 15,000 Tons TNT-equivalent of explosive power.

  • The MOAB (authorized to be used in Afghanistan by Trump) was 11 Tons TNT-equivalent of explosive power.

  • The first thermonuclear bomb (hydrogen bomb) used in the Ivy Mike test was 10,400,000 Tons TNT-equivalent of explosive power.

  • The biggest thermonuclear bomb ever detonated (Tsar Bomba) was 50,000,000 Tons TNT-equivalent of explosive power.

The nukes dropped on Japan were little b-word bombs compared to what Burgerworld developed later :marseysmug2:

The lab I’m supposed to work at has likely developed far worse than the tsar bomba. The explosive features could probably destroy half of Japan nowadays. It’s more precision based but I wouldn’t doubt one of the research groups isn’t just making a big enough explosion.

You're a nuclear scientist now?

No, it’s just a lab that works on the same campus as nuclear scientists. I won’t work with them but we do have a shared cafeteria

What’s your clearance level

Pretty low. My NDA actually prohibits saying but it’s enough to get into my lab, use the shuttle and get food. I’m not permitted into any of the chem labs unless requested.

I’ve lived a pretty interesting life. I am admittedly running out of lore though so you probably won’t get much more.

Tsar bomba was supposed to be 100 MT but (and this might be bullshit) it was reduced so as to give the bomber dropping it enough time to fly away from its blast radius.

Makes sense. Bombers in WW2 already had to do a loop-de-loop when launching the bomb because their planes weren't fast enough to get out of the way otherwise

>little b-word bombs

https://thebulletin.org/2015/02/the-weight-of-a-butterfly/

The uranium in the Hiroshima bomb was about 80 percent uranium 235. Of the 64 kilograms of uranium in the bomb, less than one kilogram underwent fission, and the entire energy of the explosion came from just over half a gram of matter that was converted to energy. That is about the weight of a butterfly.

Yeah, and like normal bombs you don't calculate the explosive yield from the shit that didn't explode :marseysmug2:

Still a lil' b-word bomb compared to thermonuclear devices, which also had a great deal of material that didn't detonate.

The material is still being produced and detonated.
