The Falklands were absurdly based. We had low-level strikes with American and French attack jets on British destroyers, a big fat ship sinking and causing 2 decades of equipment fraud in Bongland, SAS troopers flying commercial out of Chile after being burned on an opp to strangle Argies and plant bombs, the only sinking of a ship by a nuclear sub (using a 1940s US torpedo, I might add), an Argentina destroyer being disabled by an ATGM, a submarine being drilled a tiny shitty helicopter with rockets, a forced march by western forces in the modern era, cool bros reading the manual on SAMs and then getting a kill with them, and just other totally badass shit in general
41 years ago and isn't a topic taught at schools, is more of a footnote, so the 50+ crowd are the only ones with memories of having watched/read about it on the news back in the day but even then Brazil had other problems, the military regime was crumbling, people were protesting asking for the return of direct elections and inflation was rampant, so whatever was happening with the Argies was just irrelevant. Therefore knowing about the Falkland War is more a thing for people who like history/politics and things like that.
I don't know if the fellow !macacos share my opinion on this but I always thought the average Brazilian was kind of oblivious to our Spanish speaking neighbors affairs besides some basic βArgentina and Venezuela = shitty economy and leftism, but still Argentina a nice vacation spot. Paraguay = electronics stores, smuggling, cheap stuff, soy, cattle and thousands of Brazilian farmers. Uruguay = Little Argentina, but richer, cooler and with legal weedβ.

If this war happened today, the UK would cede the land immediately and pass a law that requires each English household to send Argentina 20 silver shillings or whatever the frick
I love the Falklands cause the dirty argies have no claim or the same amount of claim as the British. They try to frame it as a colonization issue but the British have been there for a longer total time and there was no previous native population. The war was an imperialist land grab by Argentina that caused the end of their right wing military government and commies still defend Argentina.
