41 years ago and isn't a topic taught at schools, is more of a footnote, so the 50+ crowd are the only ones with memories of having watched/read about it on the news back in the day but even then Brazil had other problems, the military regime was crumbling, people were protesting asking for the return of direct elections and inflation was rampant, so whatever was happening with the Argies was just irrelevant. Therefore knowing about the Falkland War is more a thing for people who like history/politics and things like that.
I don't know if the fellow !macacos share my opinion on this but I always thought the average Brazilian was kind of oblivious to our Spanish speaking neighbors affairs besides some basic “Argentina and Venezuela = shitty economy and leftism, but still Argentina a nice vacation spot. Paraguay = electronics stores, smuggling, cheap stuff, soy, cattle and thousands of Brazilian farmers. Uruguay = Little Argentina, but richer, cooler and with legal weed”.
