Most of therapy is just about figuring out what's going wrong, what you want to fix and making a plan to address it. You don't necessarily need to pay someone if you take making changes seriously. DM me if you want to chit chat about specifics. But the two books I'd suggest are: the feeling good handbook by David Burns to learn CBT and the DBT Workbook (the green one). You can also watch YouTube videos about CBT & how to apply it to your situation. I am paying out the butt to do this intensively ($1k/day) but it's truly helping.

I'll whip your balls until you fix your life for $900/day. It's a good deal.
Ah, that's because “diets don't work”. One bit of fatty propaganda I've been seeing a lot recently is the notion that it's practically impossible for a person to lose weight on their own, without some sort of medical treatment. Becoming aware of caloric values and using that knowledge to consume at a deficit just can't happen.

You can trust therapists but you can't trust redditor therapists. That's like saying you shouldn't trust doctors just because some post on /r/doctors or whatever.
You should go to therapy just because of your art alone

My doctor who keeps telling me to see a therapist also keeps talking about how much her last therapist sucked and how she's trying to find a good one

"Diet culture" only applies to fat people. Normal people don't "go on a diet," they just have a healthy diet.

I will never be with a female who defecates. The whole reason my last girlfriend and I split was because I found out she did, in fact, poop.
