Why do moids murder their families when times are tough? This is like a twice-yearly occurrence in Bongland. In Burgerland I guess they go on mass-shooting sprees after the familicide so the reporting is focused on that. But why, moids? Why?
I've seen it rationalised away as "Ohhh it's the provider instinct and when they fail at that they see no way out and don't want their families to suffer".
But holy shit moids, maybe try going on benefits? Maybe try killing just yourself?
In this case it's particularly galling because the wife had a successful career of her own and she and her daughter could have thrived without him if he'd just left and become a tramp.
Theres next to know research done into it either so foids don't know how to spot the signs early on and bail. My advice is if your moid is controlling in any way, treat him as a potential familicide-doer and avoid. It's the only way of protecting yourself.

I think there needs to be an urgent reckoning in which moids collectively take a good long look at themselves and honestly ask themselves what would drive them to commit such heinous crimes against the people they love.
For me, I can't imagine doing it under normal circumstances. It's got to be related to uncontrollable male rage which is, as you suggest, often triggered when their egos or narcissistic fantasies of self are threatened.
I'm not sure if moids will ever be capable of such introspection though, so maybe the question needs to be what can foids do to avoid putting them in danger. And for me, the answer is that they need to boycott moids.

We had a couple of recent cases in the states of foids also doing the same, but just their kids (dunno if they were all single moms or what).
Idk if it’s a moid thing necessarily, other than if a wife was going to kill her husband too there’s probably a higher chance he’d be able to stop her in the process, where a the reverse wouldn’t be true for most cases.
