Of course, plenty of men will say—either directly or indirectly—that the solution to all our problems (read: their problems) is to somehow "return" to a time when women couldn't earn their own incomes, and thus, were forced to settle. This is the reason they didn't freak out about porn so much until Onlyfans came around—they will reliably seethe over an Onlyfans model being able to buy a luxury car as a result of s*x work, but don't seem bothered by the luxurious life of porn producers, or Andrew Tate's sprawling and dimly-lit man cave. These men might mask their agenda with concern for birth rates or veneration of homeschool moms, but a lot of it is just about maximizing their own sexual options, or the sexual options of the men who listen to them. It's the male version of decreeing that any forty-year-old man who dates a twenty-five-year-old woman is a libertarian.

She covers that in the piece a bit: women want to be in relationships/married, just like men do, but they are happier to settle for being single then settle for a lame man, men are more desperate to be in a relationship, especially as they get older. Think about all those old windowers who remarry right away.
There's a term in negotiation theory, best alternative to a negotiated agreement (BATNA) and for many women their BATNA is being medium-happy by themselves. They're happier to walk away from table, so they have more leverage in the "negotiation" of a relationship.

I know a lot of spry boomer widows and divorcees and they absolutely do desire relationships. they're not trying to get married again because what would be the point of that, but I see them dating men their age all the time. problem is options just dry up, there absolutely aren't enough eligible men to go around for women that age unless you want to do the based thing and sportfrick horny young guys instead but not a lot of 60+ women seem to choose that for some reason.
older men on the other hand might remarry because they want to have more kids (not necessarily with a younger fertile wife either, I've seen men remarry middle-aged women and adopt, but men just seem to get more interested in fatherhood as they get older I guess).

The building where my condo is is full of them.
Every week there's literally 10 boxes of wine being delivered and they get blackout drunk when we have a house party.
