I think I've realized most restaurants are a scam. It makes sense to buy cheap food (fast food, bars), or very expensive food but most everything is just the same SYSCO slop made by high schoolers or addicts

yes. after many years as a wagie I'll never eat at a mid range restaurant even some ""gourmet"" burger place (back when that was trendy) that I used to work at had a line cook selling coke to waitstaff, a permadrunk manager, and everyone smoking p*t on the job. and on top of that all the goyslop came in frozen while they charged $20+ for a burger and fries

Working at a restaurant makes you never want to eat restaurant food again. So many food safety issues a lot of people don't care about. So many quality compromises. "Oh it's frozen and we need it now? Just put it on top of this hot surface and let it defrost faster". Etc.

it's the kind of thing you expect from street food though, or at home if you were looking forward to having something and it's a tiny bit moldy then whatever, but not at a sit down restaurant
