Worse yet, pretty much all coffee you buy that is in a reusable cup is leaching a lot of plastic into it. 99% of disposable coffee cups from places like Starbucks, McDonalds, etc have a coat of of plastic covering the inside of the cup.
This is true for all disposable cups, but its partically bad for Coffee because hot liquids degrade plastic significantly, causing large amount of microplastics to seep into your drink.
If you think you are better off making coffee at home, then you are wrong. I have yet to find a drip coffee maker that doesn't utilize plastic within the heating element, filter holder, or drip stop. This is even worse, because the plastic is touching the coffee at its hottest point. Most coffee makers infact use PLASTIC reservoir when heating the water. BOILING THE WATER IN PLASTIC!?!?!?!!
Is drip coffee an American thing? I literally don't know anyone that has a drip coffee maker at home. Most people either use Moka pots, one of those capsule machines or just drink coffee Turkish style.
80% of burgers own a drip machine (they cost like $10 at the shartmart) but expensive and elaborate expresso machines have also become really popular in the last 5 years or so (at least within my age cohort) as a means of flexing your ability to spend $600+ on a coffee maker and be snobbier about coffee than the next guy.
Its sad, because most of these people don't even use good beans or a good grinder with their machines, let alone a roaster. At the same time starbucks is like $5 for a drink so $600 machine will save u money (& time) after around 40 cups (assuming machine maintains a sell value on used market at >=$400)
The issue with energy drinks is that they have too much b vitamins which is good for occasional use to suoercharge, but is terrible on the long run. Most energy drinks on the market have >=100% dv for b3, b6, and b12. Even with water solluble vitamins, like b vitamins, this can be bad as it causes malabsorption/decrease of other vitamins. Iron defficiency can also be caused by too high b vitamin levels in the body.
The other reason for using coffee over drinks, is that coffee doesn't just contain caffiene, but also acts as weak MAOI.
Basically an MAOI has a lot of benefits, and is the most effective type of anti depressant. Unlike an SSRI or SSRN, an MAOI doesn't just act on Serotonin either. It acts on Serotonin, Dopamaine, and Norepinephrine (responsible for adrenaline functioning). So you get a tripple whammy boost in all 3 major categories.
i like energy drinks, but there are very few good ones. Old Bang was the best with super creatine ad other shit, even though it was mostly a gimmick the new stuff doesn't give me a buzz like the old stuff did. Also 300 mg caffeine so really pops.
Monstrr is retched, like not even 200 mg caffeiene and has waaaaaaaaay too much B vitamins. Just look at this, 4 b vitamins with amount over 200% dv. B12 at 500% DV???? Like that is getting into dangerous territory.

Espresso machinos aren't any better. Most use plastic reservoir as well, but there are a few mostly metal ones, albeit they still have plastic components that come in contact with the hot water.
I only make coffee using a solid metal or porcelain pour over.
Anyway, most people know nothing about coffee anyway. I could go write multiple books about all the things that people do completely horribly that destroy their health when it comes to coffee.
I mean just using pre ground coffee, is terrible. Coffee grounds go stale within a few hour of being ground. You are buying stale coffee that is full of nasty bacteria, but also will cause inflamattion.
If you buy coffee beans that are pre-roasted, you are doing a little better. But coffee beans after roasting, go stale after around 2 weeks at the latest. So you are most likely drinking stale coffee again, albeit much less stale than pre ground.
yeah just get green coffee beans and roast them. honestly, about as cheap as regular coffee beans amd will taste a lot better and are a lot more fresh.
you can also buy coffee beans freshly roasted fron a roaster, but its a lot more expensiv.
I wonder if that applies to tea bags in the UK where they are all compostable and thus hopefully without plastic. They probably found a way to still have the microplastics though.
Most teabags are made using plastic for their bags now as well. Its nearly impossible to escape microplastics, you have to boil the leaves in a pot then strain them out yourself.

Yes, essentially only Americans use those drip coffee machines. It makes sense if your main priorities are convenience and volume.
Not even close to the only country that butchers coffee though, so I'm not going to blame them too much.
