'Lost' is better than 99% of the shit people binge watch today

I recently started rewatching this, I hadn't seen it since like 2012 and this shit still holds up to pop-dramas today.

I know the ending was annoying for a lot of people and the time travel stuff was weird but the scope of the show and the mystery of the lead up is hard to beat. I had forgot most of the smaller details going into the show and rewatching actually made me interested in the answers for the stuff hinted at in the earlier seasons. Are there any more modern shows that have the same type of feel, like the mystery suspense drama but actually done well?

Best male: Sawyer

Best female: Juliette

I haven't seen Lost, but I have seen The Leftovers and I will never forgive Damon Lindelof for it.

Define what you're considering as it's modern competitors. Better Call Saul? Swordshit? The Boys? The Expanse?

Watercooler shows that literally everyone is watching and talking about. I guess GOT would be similar or any of Netflix's biggest shows like Stranger Things.

I've never watched Breaking Bad cause everyone tells me to watch it but that might count idk

The Americans? I watched most of it but the character arcs were disappointing.

It’s good for a bit, but runs into the issue of all prime-time TV and becomes garbage trying to fill time with more garbage.

Raised by Wolves had a similar vibe.

Unfortunately it got cancelled by HBO after two seasons, so who knows what was going to happen (I assume the execs read the ending and figured it would be shit like Lost).

It was a unique and perplexing story for as long as it lasted though, I was at least interested in seeing where they were going with it.

The show runners apparently have the entire story mapped out, so maybe it will get picked up by another network. HBO is very picky.

Raised by Wolves bummed me because it went from sci-fi into Game of Thrones-esque fantasy by the end of the first season. It completely lost me in the second season during the Mad Max Thunderdome scene.

I'd love a Raise by Wolves that was more sci-fi, even with the religious component, but without the fantasy stuff.

YES dude! I re watched it recently and it's pretty fricking goddarn good for cable television. Like really good. Quality drops after season 3 a bit but still fantastic. And Locke is the best male character btw, Kate the best female. Only capable people on the whole darn show

Good Lost was some of the best television ever made. Bad Lost almost made me stop watching the show. It's been ages since I watched it so I don't remember exactly when it happened but there was a point in the series where they just kept throwing mystery after mystery at you without ever resolving anything. Like season 3 or 4 I think? It was frustrating to watch.

It was the beginning of S3. After the “mini pod” of six episodes, Disney ABC realized the show couldn’t just continue down that “tread water” path and agreed to allow Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (the show runners) to end it after six seasons. When S3 came back, it had probably the strongest back half to any season of TV I’d ever seen up to that point.

The show, despite its missteps, was an incredible achievement.

Watch Dark on Netflix. I’m Lost fan and thought Dark was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It answers the questions to all of their mysteries, something Lost dropped the ball on
