:marseyshrug: Hollywood romance weirds me out. Everyone has s*x on the first date, people rarely consider marriage and children and anything that actually matters in a relationship. It's one of those film conventions that's very silly if you think about it. And if s*x is actually depicted, it's pretty much always tasteless.

In some genres, it's so unusual that it's refreshing to see a normal family for once (like Miles and Keiko in Star Trek, !trekkies).

If every movie had the typical heavy breathing down the phone and masked pursuit in a dark park arcs they would take too long

I personally think there are times where it makes sense for a film but I'll admit a lot of it is unnecessary, so I get it. We're at point in society where porn is heavily integrated into the everyday. Insta and OF thots are shilling thier accounts everywhere and hardcore porn of almost any variety can be found in minutes. For boomers it made sense cause you'd have to put actual effort into getting porn and your options were limited. Now a days if people want to see fricking they just go look at actual people actually fricking. Watching two people over act and awkwardly dry hump each other with sheets covering all the important parts just seems kind of silly and almost pathetic. Spend that time on the plot instead.

Maybe people want to see more cheesy lovey dovey couples and less forced drama?

Yes. Don't put s*x in my movie unless the couple loves each other.

This is one of the reasons I like k-dramas. You just can't have romance of any depth in only a few hours.

Miles and Keiko in Star Trek

Keiko was created specifically because the writers realized nobody on the Enterprise had a normal healthy relationship. But they still wanted all the main characters available to pair up with what they called the "bimbo of the week".

It says a ton about our cultural moment. I can't wait for a cultural swing that celebrates s*x, it is bound to happen as everything is cyclical right?

B-word acting like we aren't the most promiscuous society that's ever existed (barring the cute twinkry of the Greeks, perhaps)

Baby boomers had more s*x then this gen, why do you think thr birth rate is broken?

It's weird, innit. :marseybong: Baby boomers SHUNNED you if you dared show ankle, but they fricked like rabbits. Nowadays zoomers see porn and 3/4-naked women everywhere they go, but can't frick to save their lives.

Millenials remain the winning generation; best of both worlds. :marseycheers:

They fricked like rabbits because they couldn't see s*x as easily

Long gone are the days when a bit of nudity could sell a movie because now zoomers are downright porn overloaded and the little they might see in a movie only confuses them.

Its because we had decades of shitty s*x scenes which were only shoved into movies just because people could with laxxing standards. With hbo and esp the rise of streaming lots of tv just started adding pointless, poorly acted, poorly shot s*x scenes just because it was allowed. :marseyshrug: We have wide access to porn we dont need Hollywood to show us tits or lame s*x i guess if your a boomer and your only option to see tatas was some skin in a showtime softcore you prob feel different.

I think it's more to do with how popular kids movies have been the past years. It has all been Marvel and Star wars. Of course there's no s*x in movies for children.

It's because it all gay s*x nowadays. Even the supposedly raunchy The Boys, they're like zero tits.

Main reason is that modern writers are going above and beyond to avoid appealing to the 'male gaze'.
