Didn't know what to expect with Interstellar cause I was out of the loop with pop culture at the time so was even more mind blowing seeing it without knowing.

Yeh can't help notice it now. Even Dune+Dune2 it was obvious how the good guys were obviously muslims while bad guys were whites. Still liked the movie tho. At least the muslims will become the bad guys next movie.

I've not seen the Dune movies but it seems interesting and I honestly prefer reading the books over watching the movies, if it wasn't for the fact I'm juggling like 15 already maybe I'd start it.

I really enjoyed the Alex Rider books as Anthony Horowitz was my favourite author growing up but after hearing what a travesty the movie was I've kind of lost all interest in watching film adaptations to books it was the same with Dragon Ball Evolution, Eragon, The Golden Compass (actually watched in cinema was terrible),Alita, Akira, Percy Jackson, The Hobbit, Lord of the Flies (Enjoyed the book as a child), Life of Pi.

Most of these I didn't even bother with watching the film adaptation but reading them was mostly positive.

I'm probably a little biased as I struggle to follow movies without subtitles, listening isn't my forte :itisamys#tery:.

I went to interstellar with 0 expectations didn't even watch the trailer, my friend used to watch the trailers and if he said it looks good and I liked the sound of it I'd tag along but I'm soo glad I watched it in all its 70mm glory one of the best decisions ever same with Dark Knight.

Anyways I've had fun reliving these memories. Thank you

The Sight & Sound poll was another example of identity politics and tokenism taking precedence after 2012 when the last list released. Letterboxd used to be where the best taste and cinephiles rated movies until the Eternal September we call the Twitter exodus. Now most of the top movies of all time on there are capeshit, identity-related films, and overrated foreign films. Everyone wants to analyze art analytically like a science now and focus on looking at top lists, making charts of their favorite movies, and seeeing what the consensus is but they'll never take the time to rewatch their favorites or to genuinely enjoy them.

Paul Schrader and Armond White even disliked the Jeanne Dielmann inclusion for this reason:

I compared it with Belfast because both directors attempted something similar with different approaches.

Cuáron grew up in Roma, an upper-middle class neighborhood in Mexico City. So in the film he's supposed to be one of the kids but he's telling a fictional story about his maid. A lot “class guilt” displayed.

In Belfast we on the other hand we follow the kid's (Kenneth Brannagh) story. He grows up in a good nurtured loving family during “The Troubles”, his childhood shelters him from what's going on around until it becomes too evident and his parents decide to leave. I felt that one had a soul unlike “Roma”.

Reservoir dogs, Pulp fiction and Inglourious basterds are brilliant films, and stand out as some of the best kinos of the recent era with high energy and great dialogue all through the film.

Once upon a time was one of my favourites, because of the slow build up, tense atmosphere and the final release. Really good, although I sometimes wonder if that's just recency bias.

I fricking hated Django. I found it annoying, although it's probably a fine film. Maybe it's because I'm not American so I don't give a darn about the slavery element. Hateful eight was great though.

I recently watched Death Proof and I was surprised that I liked it, because everybody seems to hate it. It's not very interesting but the Tarantino elements push it from meh into good. All his films have a certain tempo and energy that just make them interesting, even if the film is otherwise unremarkable.

I remember not liking Kill Bill although I don't remember why. Maybe I should rewatch it. I remember frick all about what happens in Jackie Brown and whether I liked it. The only thing I remember is de Niro shooting that foid, which was funny.
