Only really two options as how this happened:

1. Phillips and his writers legitimately do not understand why the first movie was popular

Or

2. Phillips and his writers legitimately hate the audience that they found

Im leaning more towards 2, one of the themes seems to be that people idolize others for all the wrong reasons, and divorce the human from the idea of that human. Either way this shit is gonna bomb

Who actually idolized the joker, though?

He's a chris-chan tier neurodivergent in the first movie and a complete loser

Can't be 1, definitely 2. The "media" that Hollywood creatures pay attention to spelled out who the audience was while they were trying to magic spree killings into existence because lonely young men had the audacity to see a movie they related to.

>want to make movies

>don't want people to relate to them

It's simple, we kill the filmmakers.

C) The initial success attracted the attention of the corporate suits who insisted on sticking their fingers in the pie and ruined it. Tale as old as time.

This is the one I'm going with too, if you combine the fact that over the last 5+ years almost everything movie and TV has a distinct "not for straight males" vibe. I'm not saying our gaybros are rolling in decent kino lately either, but since some of their tastes align with the prime media consuming demo (wimmens), they're at least catching some strays like those pilot fish that swim alongside of big fat sharks.

I think it's both. Imo, I think Todd Philips and co drank their own kool aid.

It seemed to me that the media made a bigger deal about the wrong people liking the first one than actually wrong people liking the first one

Kinda like how Redditors hate fight club because Brad Pitt is hot as shit and makes some good points

I'm pretty sure they publicly stated that incels were doing the media literacy wrong so they made this one to show them

I don't understand this take either, he's not really sympathetic, it's just kind of funny seeing a mentally disabled man frick everything up and kill people gratuitously for no reason
