NuTrek is rubbish, and I'm sorry they spoiled using a good actress like Michelle Yeoh by creating what could have been a great character in Discovery then ruined the character by going for Mirrorverse straight out of the gate and turning her into Le Evil Empress. I hated the Section 31 idea when it first happened in DS9 and every idiot scriptwriter who wants to be dark'n'edgy and "but consider grey morality, am I not sophisticated?" just uses it as a lazy trope.
So the Section 31 movie is crap? Wow, who could possibly have foreseen that?
I'm convinced that all the supposed love for her character is just bots being used by the studio to claim success. I'm surprised she's even willing to keep playing such a bad part.
"but consider grey morality, am I not sophisticated?"
When you're a teenager this "morally grey" stuff appeals to you because you're still trying to figure out what's right and wrong. Unfortunately there's a lot of writers out there still at the mental age of 16.

It was infuriating. This kind of hand-wringing about "maybe we're the real bad guys" doesn't belong in Star Trek. If you don't want to write Star Trek then write for another show.
DS9 worked as the worst Starfleet would go, and even then some of the spec ops type plots were really stupid.
The problem is Star Trek really isn't supposed to be a "fate of the galaxy depends on X" sort of franchise. That stuff only works when it's clearly the exception, but writoids don't understand that and make it the rule for their slop content.
In the Star Trek moral universe, most problems can be solved by diplomacy, science, and understanding, and most of the rest can be solved by phasers and torpedos. Scheming and subterfuge are for bad guys
Yeah but you need a 100 IQ (realistically even higher tbf) for that. Most libertarianwood writers are nepobabies whose low intelligence is only not more apparent because their lack of creativity obscures it.

She seems to take loads of roles just for the work. Probably still has the mindset of 'this could dry up any second, so do as much as you can'.
