I finally watched the new Deadpool and wolverine

Tonight's episode of White Lotus was cash money. I was worried HBO was done making 10/10 shit after Succession.

Shadows of Our Forgotten Ancestors (1965)

Ukrainian tale of romance, coming-of-age, and tragedy. VERY good. Love the rural, ethnic Ukrainian setting.

Severance. I think it is pretty good. I get that people are mad that there are a lot of mysteries that have gone unanswered but they should realize that that is for a good reason, if all of the questions were answered it wouldn't be nearly as interesting. But I think the show does a good job of posing knew questions and answering them that I'm willing to go along.

What's the point of having a signature on your art if no one can read it and trace it back to you?

I finished Scavengers Reign. The music was a highlight and the animation looked great in some parts.

Watched "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" on Tubi. Classic "Frick yeah bro!" movie. It felt like an evolution of the goofier R-rated fantasy flicks from the 80's, which is a lineage Hollywood basically forgot about after LOTR. I had a big smile the whole time.

As tiring as the "PG-13 bad" circlejerk is, I think this is a prime example of a movie that would be absolutely murdered by a PG-13 cut. The gratuitous violence and sexuality are really necessary to support the jokey writing. It's one big over-the-top adolescent project working in unison. The issue with "millennial writing" is it tries to apply a tone of transgression to a baseline product that is fundamentally bland.

Trying the new Wheel of Time series.

I started watching supersize vs superskinny and it's super depressing. Not because of the fat people in terrible conditions but because they try to "recover" these beautiful skinny kings and queens. The updates where they tell them how many inches they've gained around the waist makes me cry

Severance is amazing and the finale is this week. Common Side Effects is also amazing and it kinda blows me away that both Severance and Common Side Effects are both airing at the same time. I can't think of a time where more than one show that good was on TV. I also watched the first season of True Detective this weekend and was very impressed

Hamish MacBeth Season 3

Divergence EVE. 2003 mecha anime. First ep is one of the most wtf but interesting starts to a show I've watched in a while. It is equally ecchi dogshit and actually thematically interesting. Also the ED is pretty catchy.

I am calling for a total and complete shutdown on women's autonomy until we can figure out what the heck is going on.
