It can be both. It sucked as a baseline and RZ decides to generate some political headlines about identity politics and "she don't need no man to save her" to stir up buzz and make everyone talk about the movie. It backfired, hard.
Movie sucks because its a "live-action" as in its just 3 people and everyone else and everywhere else is computer generated. That's horrible without even going into the details of the story sucking the miscast, etc. Nobody like this shit. Nobody wants to watch a brown woman walk around a green room singing pre-recorded modernized tracks and pretending to talk to something that isn't really there.
