I'm on a bit of a Korean movie binge right now and this scene was so ahead of its time
NGL I only started to watch it out of curiosity since it was highly rated... and ended up watching the whole darn thing because I forgot how good the Koreans are with tearjerkers Somehow they just know how to tug at your cold, cynical heartstrings
Korean movies must be good since I recall our teachers bringing the whole cohort to the cinema to watch one of the films about the Korean War since we were on that subject at that point in time, and this was in a strict Asian school lmfao

Lol in Cambodia "bong" = "bro" so you'll hear a lot of bong bong bong when you converse in Khmer

And now the president of the Philippines is named Bongbong, so I guess we have to get used to it.

I was about to say that sounds like if you asked a professional racist like me to come up with a fake Korean name on the spot.

I think I've seen like 5 korean movies, out of those I enjoyed "The man from nowhere" and "Train to Busan"

I think the third film Lady Vengeance cause I love the schadenfreude feeling I get from watching revenge flicks

Third one is the most re-watchable of them imo. I liked Mr. Vengeance a bit more but I can't imagine pulling myself through it again.
Old boy was an odd one for me becase despite not being spoiled before watching I could somehow guess where it's going very early on which resulted in intense seething clouding my judgement on the entire movie lmao.

I like their dramas, but Korean movies never really stood out for me. I dunno, maybe they just a long time to tell a story.
I dunno if I can get through a movie about someone enduring a life of misery right now. I still haven't gotten through all those Zhang Yimou movies from the 1980s yet.

Oh that movie was actually quite uplifting IMO (prolly the reason why I watched the whole thing) but the sad/emotional parts are
Yeah I agree, I'll fall asleep when movies are too draggy and Korean movies tend to have a 2-3 hour runtime but some are really paced well lol. I think it helps too that their plot twists and stories can be unpredictable if you're the occasional dabbler so it feels refreshing sometimes after a lifetime of watching burger/bong stuff
