It’s genuinely the most impressive military achievement since Yi Sun Sin
I'm not trying to say Ukraine isn't making Russians look silly, but really, most impressive military achievement? They've lost like 20% of their country. I think this whole war says more about Russia than it does about Ukraine honestly

Love the implication that Napoleon, Suvurov, Nelson, and all the other great generals of the 17th through 21st centuries pale in comparison to the hohols being able to hold a few reinforced river lines
Look at desert storm if you want to see what a truly successful military operation looks like. 2700 sorties flown in the first 24 hrs. Zero tanks lost to enemy actions. In total a few hundred soldiers lost. In contrast tens of thousands of iraqi troops killed, and thousands of tanks, APCs, and artillery pieces destroyed.

As much as it pains me to say so, in modern times the burgers have shown they can run a truly awe-inspiring conventional military campaign
Redditors act like this is anything but two ex-Soviet states fighting like ex-Soviet states. The Ukrainians have a lot of the same systemic issues as the russkies

Its truly impressive how off the mark analysts were about Ukraine's chances.
Remember, early estimates were that Kharkov would be overrun in just a few hours after the invasion started.

I mean a lot of this was just wildly overestimating russia lol.
It's hard to predict how corrupt a military is. Nobody is gonna just assume russia doesn't have tires for their aa units.

I think it says more about the difficulty of industrial war in the age of drones and mass produced anti tank weapons.
Russia obviously failed - but it's also likely industrial war vs an entrenched enemy is just not really feasible anymore.
