Im now at the half of this book and i dont think its realistic at all. So basically its about 3 sisters

Avery : survived a heroine addiction and became a successful lawyer and cheats on her lesbian wife with a man. And thats the only time she is happy

Bonnie : was a world boxing championship winner. Likes men for some reason

Lucky : a famous model that parties hard and was groomed hard

Nicky : died from pill overdose and endometriosis

Pretty good book so far

Started reading a very expensive anthology of journey to the west

Right now: Hero of Two Worlds: The Marquis de Lafayette in the Age of Revolution by Mike Duncan

Just finished: It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

I passed an IT exam so I no longer have to read my fat assed textbook

Now I will read the next textbook

Finished The Three-Body Problem the other day and boyyyy do I HATE Ye Wenjie. The fact this b-word doesn't even show the slightest bit of remorse and regret when she finds out the true intentions and plans the Trisolarans have in store for us (what a shocker they're not some morally superior and magnanimous species ) made me sneed so darn hard. What a dumb fricking b-word of a character. Anyone who believes this b-word is a profound, multi-layered character with complicated motives needs to dive head first into a pit of lava. There's no circle of heck deep and agonizing enough for Ye and Mike.

Still, I really liked the book, gonna start on the next one soon when I have some spare time.

Tried reading The Way of Zen by Alan Watts but he kept talking about India so I couldn't take it seriously. Zen mind beginners mind is better

Just finished "My Year of Rest and Relaxation" based on a recommendation from a friend and it's really funny. Anything that ends in a main character suiciding from an on-fire WTC during 9/11 has my exact morbid and death-obsessed tone

Tiktoker r-slurs treat it like it's a feminist allegory or something when it's actually hugely averse as a story to the lionising of the female protagonist; she is unrelentingly manipulative and the writer is not interested in saying anything about gender (finally)

Cugel's Saga by Jack Vance. Hilarious read, sort of like if an old school DnD rogue full of wit and peepeeishness was in a Monty Python sketch.

Slight tangent but man is reddit fricking useless for discussing fantasy and most other media seriously. Looked up this book and found most of the posts have a bunch of whining about Cugel being too problematic for a protag. Just full of smoothbrains unable to engage with fiction without any sense of detachment, they're unable to handle "problematic" events or characters without the divine justice that you see in morality plays. Pretty sad to see how fantasy readers are increasingly unable to fantasize.

I finished Metro 2033, I thought it was pretty good. It was a bit slow at times but the good parts were really good. I'm looking forward to reading the sequels.

It was also a really good translation.

I finished Journey to the End of the Night this week. Really liked it, I found the first couple chapters a bit boring but it gets so much better.

Celine is vicious in the way he portrays people in the book, especially poor folx
