I loled at this passages. Despite being a commie himself Bely could take a joke and make fun of his own movement. Despite the rather complex language this book is quite satirical.
Aleksandr Ivanovich is sort of a charming neurodivergent for a terrorist. Nikolai Apollonovich is a whiny cute twink and his dad is right about him.
Sofia Petrovna needs better friends and would seriously benefit of owning a dildo, but unfortunately she's a weeb in 1900s Russia.

This just reminded me book i read few years back. Basically about russian civil war. It was basically how r-slurred whole thing was. People in general didnt care. They hated tsarist and didnt care about reds. Battles were really small. In backdrop of ww1. You had battles of few thousands men for fate of russia.
Whites lost becouse they were too retarted to win. When ever regular people showed any intrested to supporting them. It was made clear to them. After war is over. You get jackshit. Once a pesant, always pesant. Reds at least offered land reforms.
Kinda reminds me of trump vs hillary/kamala. When people went to girlbosses. Asking what is it for them. They said jackshit pleb. When they went to trump. He said maga.

I have two things I'd like to discuss.
1. What is the importance of cuckoldry in this book? Both father and son are kind of cucks. Why choose this to parallel them?
2. The books mentioned in the text tend to either be related to economic philosophy / logic, or related to mysticism / religion. In part 2, Ivanovich seems to think himself superior to Nikolai because he reads religious texts instead of theory, though he comes off as a schizo in that conversation. In part 3, Sofia Petrovna claims she has equal respect for the kooky Baroness R.R. and the giga commie Varvara. What do you think Bely is trying to imply by contrasting these things?

Both father and son are equals to the point Nikolai becomes a commie out of spite, looks like is just a way to differ from his father as they have the same manners, tics, and even read the same books. They love/hate each other is the impression I'm getting.

Yes, they even have the same weird geometry autism. At first I thought that their personal relationship may be mirroring the growing divide between the people and the government of Petersburg, but I find Nikolai so much more distasteful that I'm not sure I like that interpretation anymore. I read that the book was written by a guy whose family was killed by Nihilist terrorists. So yeah, I think he might be a little bit biased about them being cringey.

That's really not fair. The Tsar was on holiday, and had no idea anything like that would take place. Georgy Gapon should rather have been busy being a priest and spiritual leader, rather than stoking the masses around leftoid political causes.
