I remember when I was in elementary school I joined the school’s Lunar New Year dance thing. I was the only white kid there, with no cultural connections to Asia besides “pretty clothes”. I had no thoughts about it at the time, but looking back it must’ve been funny af for everyone else

AMAZING WORK
The hat one in icon form looks like it's (((them))) themed, not chinese. The coin doesn't help with that either. With the flowers one you can still tell what's going on at any size so I like it more

I didn't actually come up with the design. I copied it from Chinese New Year cartoons. 
It's red and yellow, which are Chinese lucky colors, and the coin has a rectangular hole like Chinese coins.

Yeh just look at the little versions used next to the vote bubbles. The first one when very small looks like something wearing a small circular hat holding a gold coin- that's basically
but with a gold coin involved- the square shape isn't visible at small scale to differentiate it as Chinese.
The flowers one is obviously a Chinese design from any view though, and is very VERY cute.
