iirc they typically just opened with the fly on later episodes
Pretty sure it came about because aeon flux sometimes had multiple segments per episode so playing that whole intro was a time waster and they eventually dropped the whole thing

90s MTV was peak American animation, could have went somewhere, then it just fell off. The Maxx, Spawn, Aeon Flux. That shit was revolutionary then.
Now American "adult" animation is mostly restricted to Marvel/DC capeshits with that soulless art style. The 90s adult cartoons all had their own unique style.
