90s MTV was peak American animation, could have went somewhere, then it just fell off. The Maxx, Spawn, Aeon Flux. That shit was revolutionary then.
Now American "adult" animation is mostly restricted to Marvel/DC capeshits with that soulless art style. The 90s adult cartoons all had their own unique style.
