For reference, this was the flag of Montana until 1981. It's pretty bad, but the winner of the worst flag in the country was actually given to Georgia.
In 1974, James Croft (who was running for Senator) proposed this and it was rejected 30 to 19.
Then in '79, a college student made this piece of poop. It too was rejected, and in '81 the government decided to add 'MONTANA' to the state flag.
Fast forward to 2021. Republicants proposed yet another state flag, but the idea was shot down because they wanted to include AR-15s.
