reminder that a random no name company "accidentally" leaked every single American SSN to the dark web and :marseyreportercnn: :marseyreporterfox: hardly talked about it and no one went to jail/got fined. The SSN is literally worthless now especially if ur young

If you work anywhere, your SSN is being sent to like at least 9 different companies most likely through email on Excel files every year.

SSN were never too thought out, I think they only got some real security stuff in 2009 but all the previous ones were already crackable

it was also never meant to be used for identificaton purposes. The original cards specifically said "not for identificatiom purposes" on them

yeah idk why they were ever treated like the sole identity of people when its some string of a few numbers, half of which are birthdate related. Probably should have just given passports or something at birth, which aren't "full" since there isn't a photo and once you're like 18 you need a photo

because any attempt at doing this back in the 90s or 2000s would have been interpreted as mark of the beast globohomo brain-chipping to put everyone in FEMA camps

laziness and no other reason

companies dealing with credit wanted a way to uniquely identify people and instead of coming up with their own IDs tied to actual identities, they used SSNs

they should all be in prison but there's no justice in this world :marseydepressed:

He's gonna change everyones SNN to XXX-XX-XXXX isn't he?

That would actually be kinda convenient. Like imagine instead of memorizing your entire SSN, you can just be like "My SSN is 69 X's." Now you only have to memorize how many X's there are.

what if the amount of Xs in your new SSN was the same as the original number itself

Then everyone would have the same ssn which doesnt make any sense

I assume yes, it's been leaked nearly a dozen times in the last 10 years.

Don't forget, experian was hacked sept 2015 that not just leaked everyones SSN but credit records, names address...

or the big breach in 2017 for equifax...

The Equifax data breach, which occurred between May and July 2017, compromised the personal data of approximately 147 million Americans, 15.2 million British citizens, and about 19,000 Canadian citizens.

Equifax discovered the breach at the end of July but did not disclose it to the public until September 2017.

All of our shit unhashed because their cybersecurity chief previous job was a music teacher btw...

So I really don't care about people screeching that Elon has everyones SSN. Especially same people that make payments to Tesla lmao
