That used to be a thing and people just used some site to automatically copy paste news articles with hyperlinks and embedded images for a guaranteed spot at #1-3 on the front page. It was so bad that people were getting to the top of the front page by accident with 0 upmarseys purely by spamming links. Also if you put
<a href="https://">over and over again you could get anything you wanted at the top of the front page regardless of upvotes for like 36 hoursJump in the discussion.
