Holes were a mistake and why they need reform in the near future

TL;DR: Holes bad, they need reform or it may lead to bad consequences for rdrama.

As a former advocate of holes, I have come to realize that carp was right about holes. All they have done is enable more seriousposting on both the main feed and in holes, make the content on this site worse, and made this site more boring.

That doesn't mean we should discontinue holes, because it's too late for that, but there needs to be reform. However, many of these reforma shouldn't happen until the site has a bigger userbase because implementing these reforms too early leads to fragmentation and the premature death of this website. Here are the reforms:

Make some holes permanent and create new ones for dramatic content

These changes shouldn't be implemented until the userbase grows to about 30000-50000. To make everyone happy and allow people to block drama they don't like, there would be permanent drama holes that wouldn't be hidden from the frontpage and dedicated to specific topics. They may include:

  • slackernews (tech drama)

  • peakpoors (poor drama)

  • fatpeoplehate (fat drama)

  • yiffinhell (furry drama)

  • chudrama (chud containment zone like it is already)

  • slavshit (russia-ukraine war drama+containment zone for warposters)

  • vidya (video game drama)

  • toomanyxchromosomes (foid drama)

  • gaybros (gay drama)

  • museumofrdrama (historic rdrama and /r/drama drama)

  • kino (movie drama)

  • meta (meta drama and meta posts, and may or may not be a hidden hole)

  • future holes to be created for trans, international (/h/Singapore and /h/bharat could be international drama holes), lgbt, finance (wallstreetbets?), bardfinn, politics (revival of /r/politicope), pibbles, sportsball, anime, hollywood and celebrities, incels (braincels?), music drama, and any dramatic topics that become popular in the future.

  • The main feed would still exist for drama that does not fit to a specific hole or for clueless r-slurs that don't know where to post the drama.

Then there would offtopic holes that are hidden by default to discourage seriousposting. They may include:

  • random

  • anime

  • space

  • mnn

  • schizocel (groomercordcel containment zone)

  • music

  • dino

  • foid

  • sports

  • proana

  • food

  • Other off-topic holes that can be created in the near future that dramatards may want

/h/marsey and /h/wallstreetbets would be exceptions for not being hidden by default.

House holes would be viewable to house members only. They would include:

  • vampire

  • racist

  • femboy

  • furry

(You will never be a real house house edgy)

Remaining holes would be legacy holes, which is the current holes system and still would cost 50000. They are still subject to the 7 day deletion and can become permanent holes under admin approval. This may be discontinued at any time.

There, potential reform ideas that may make holes better or worse. Or we can just kill it and have a day of seething, idk. But even I have grown to hate the current holes system and there needs to be change or reform.

Thank you for reading my r-slurred essay.
