Not a Britcel, but what does "suspending" a lawmaker mean? Aren't they elected officials who are put in by the voters, so I don't understand how anybody other than the voters can suspend them? For example MTG sometimes says wacky stuff about Jewish Space Lasers (and to be fair, sometimes extremely based stuff about globohomo) but if that's what her voters want they deserve to have their opinions represented, and if the party apparatus doesn't like it, they can go frick themselves. This is what democracy is supposed to be about - representing the will of the people, no matter how angry, irrational, or genocidal the people may be. Do British politics work differently? As a voter I would be furious if my elected representation was cancelled just because they said something politically incorrect, especially since their politically incorrect opinions are probably the reason I voted for them in the first place.
