Of course r/politics is too stupid to realize why the military going rogue is a bad thing.

I'm sure this is bait, but you've gotta be really r-slurred to call an implied oath "bad" compared to nukes being launched, possibly probably aimed at our own country.

There's nothing wrong with nuking California.

That brings up a seriously interesting point: where would he most likely nuke? I doubt he'd nuke Cheye-nah like the article/Miley mentioned, it would be somewhere domestic that "RIGGED!" it surely? But where?

Jump in the discussion.

I disagree he'd do something domestically. In order to understand Trump you need to look at what he accuses others of.

He, multiple times, said Obama would start a war to stay in office, which means Trump believes a war can keep a president in office, which means he'd likely try to start shit with Iran or somewhere else on his shit list.

This doesn't even have to be nukes, firing cruise missiles at Iran would start a serious war.

Just glad Bolton wasn't around long enough to actually start a war. You could tell he was keen on Iran.

I don't really think Trump was against war with Iran. I think the military brass are the only reason we aren't at war with Iran rn.

With as many nukes as the US has you don't have to be choosey. I vote for nuking everywhere. It's the only way to be sure.

Military officers already took an oath on what to do with enemies foreign and domestic, any officer that breaks that oath is an enemy yet Milley somehow isn't in a cell yet.

Technically he is right though. You are meant to only have officers who follow questions without hesitation. The rest are not meant for the military. Not bait just pointing out the general standards.

A report tells of how top military brass took evasive maneuvers behind the president's back to prevent nuclear war and of fricking course r/politics is upvoting AOC's dress over this.

I always figured they took the nuclear football away from Daddy and gave him a Play-Skool one. Especially after he made the comment about solving hurricanes by nuking the center. I'm shocked it took that long.

Wait isn't that actual sedition (?) ? Wanting the military to bypass the civilian government to own the orangeman. They'd literally ask for the death penalty in an expedited martial Court if someone did that to prevent anyone from their side from uh... defending democracyโ„ข.

It sounds like it, but depends upon the real official protocol for launching nukes.

"No matter what you are told, you do the procedure. You do the process. And I'm part of that procedure," Milley told the officers, according to the book. He then went around the room, looked each officer in the eye, and asked them to verbally confirm they understood.

"Got it?" Milley asked, according to the book.

"Yes, sir."

'Milley considered it an oath,' the authors write.

If the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs must sign off on nuke launches, no. If that's not the case, that implied oath was a planning for a bona fide military coup. And that is not a dramatized answer. That would actually meet the definition for a military coup.

The military preventing a coup doesn't really meet the definition of coup, does it?

Trump was pretty openly trying to steal the election, the military doesn't serve the out-going president, they serve the country.

Idk man, in my opinion anyone celebrating this is downright r-slurred because you are saying good job military trying to work around the civilian overhead. On the other hand it's only a military coup if they followed through with their actions which is a situation that didnt occur. Of course all of this only applies if he is not required to sign off on a nuke launch.

Does it not concern anyone that this basically means the US Nuclear deterrent is a sham if a General can just decided "nah" and effectively shut it all down?

Also, can you imagine how hilarious it would be to see Trump in the situation room live-streaming a nuclear attack on Canada?
