The Motion Picture is unironically one of my top ST movies, mostly because you can treat it like a baseball game, i.e., take a nap around the time Kirk takes command of the Enterprise, wake up around Spock "penetrating the V'ger orifice," and really not miss anything.

Except for never running into an asteroid in the belt between mars and Jupiter, or passing close enough to any object large enough to pull it into orbit, or getting hit by a meteor/comet, or just crapping out.
It's a computer with about 32KB of total processing power that we hucked into space 50 years ago, and ever since we've been pretending that we're learning something from it. As silly as the whole thing is, it is at least somewhat impressive that the fricking this has kept working for so long.
