V-22 Ospreys will be mostly grounded into 2025 :marseyfacepalm:

I think :marseyoscargamble: the tilt-rotor concept has a lot of potential but this is the worst defense procurement program :marseyyarn: ever. I remember in the '90s it was already crashing and way over time and budget. It should :marseynorm: have been ready :marseyexcited: 25 fricking :marseytom: years ago and it's still not today. There  is something  deeply wrong :marseygigathonk: with our society :marseymisssize: when nobody has been executed or even sent to prison :marseymugshot: over all the money :marseygeralt: and lives :marseyblm: lost.

>worst defense procurement program

It's not even close. That goes to the independence class littoral combat ships. The Navy has sunk bullions into those pieces of shit, and they're completely unfit for combat. They're already slated for decommissioning.

It was annyounced in earwy September 2016 that the fwirst fwour vessels of the LCS pwogwam would be used as test ships rather than being depwoyed with the fleet.[19][20] This includes lead ship Independence and Cwowonyadwo. As of May 2019, nyinye ships have been cwommissionyed. In Febwuary 2020 it was annyounced that the Nyavy plans two retire the fwirst fwour LCS ships.[21] On 20 Junye 2020, the US Nyavy annyounced that aww fwour would be taken out of cwommission in March 2021, and wiww be placed in inyactive reserve, because it would be twoo expensive two upgwade them two match the later ships in the class.[22][23]

They used them fwor 4 years and are gwoing two thwow them intwo stworage. :marseywtf2:

They wanted ships that did one thing well and they would lose during a war. Congress mentally cannot handle losing ships so they instead gave money for womderwaffen ships that couldn't do anything.

Oh yeah. And the Zumwalt. The Navy managed to piss away its entire budget for research and procurement 2000-2020.

What's funny is they may be refitting it for long range missiles.

The Bell V-280 Valor, which is replacing the black hawk, seems to have learned a lot of hard lessons from the Osprey and is a much better aircraft. One example is only the blades tilt not the whole engine so it doesn't fry the landing deck.
