The restructuring would :marseywood: mark the first :marseywinner: closure of domestic :marseybatteredwoman: plants :marseyplant: in the company's 87-year history :marseyjohnson: and set it up for a battle :marseypunching: with powerful unions in Germany, where :marseydrama: VW has 300,000 employees. There  are 10 plants :marseyplant: which are part of the VW's core brand and could potentially be closed.

Polish imperialist ambitions? :marseyconfused:

Jump in the discussion.

That one is profoundly untrue. Firstly our government has no ambitions whatsoever, secondly Germany over the years has went against Poland again and again. Any success we have is despite them, not thanks to them. Well, maybe thanks to their money we siphoned through the EU, but still.

Aren't you like the biggest receiver of our money? So it's definitely not a small thing.

We are r-slurred paying that much though, so not your fault. Keep up the grift.

I think so. at least it was so in the past. In recent years some fund got frozen due to our government not playing ball with the commission.

We are r-slurred paying that much though

I'm not sure how much Germany wants to give, and how much they need to due to how EU works.

We are the most productive (GDP), thus obviously pay the most, but last time I checked we were top payers even by per capita. And since we throw away our money at all various shit things instead of our own infrastructure it's most likely we are not required to outdo countries like France at per capita.

Jump in the discussion.

No idea. It's true, that we have been rearming big time since Russia started to wag its flaccid peepee around again, but a lot of our tanks went to Ukraine, and not sure how the purchase of new ones is going.

Anyway, bigger army does not translate to much on its own (aside of being a detterent and a money sink), and I don't expect our government to properly use or maintain the military power we have.

I remember watching a documentary about how some chinese car manufacturer wanted to expand to europe but got cockblocked by regulations. It turns out the car 1) had no crumple zone and 2) was made of something like aluminium and plastic. They showed the impact test footage and as a result the car would literally turn into a pancake upon impact at relatively slow speeds, which they compared to a passat or some other car of similar dimensions which had a nice accordeon-like compression of its front-end and left the passengers mostly intact.

It's amazing how shit you can make a car if you try hard enough.

Can China even make an ICE? Unironically every engine I've ever seen from there has been a copy of a existing engine. 0 home grown

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

When great wall motors needed a motor for their shitty truck thing, they used a copy of the Mitsubishi Orion 4G64 engine.( no relation to the Evolution 4G63 turbo engine which was kino)

The 4G64 was designed in the 1980s and was famous for using as much oil as it did fuel. So a 40 year old engine, re engineered by the Chinese

Lmao

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

I imagine that's why they're so hyped about EVs. All they need to make one of those is 4 motors and a battery

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

It was essentially THE plan, Chinks knew trying to catch up with Europe, US or Japan, all of whom have 100+ years of experience building ICE, was stupid. Electric motors are simple in comparison, and they didn't need massive investment there, so they went all in on battery R&D.

BEVs are simpler than an ICE it's basically a smart phone on wheels.
