how tf does one get a uti from sleeping in a tent?

bc it's cold, talking from experience here

you don't get a uti from being cold and same thing with catching a cold

I'm literally always cold and I've never gotten a uti or a cold from being cold 😂

i envy you, i've only gotten uti after being out in the cold and sitting on cold ground

:marseyakshually:

Cold temperatures can reduce blood flow to the bladder and surrounding areas, potentially compromising the natural defenses of the urinary tract. And cold exposure can weaken your immune response, making it harder for your body to fight off bacteria.

that's not how that works... not even how science works

It can if you have a propensity for UTIs. Not peeing regularly and not being able to wash can cause these issues if you already are pre disposed to bladder infections.

girlllll. Educate yourself lol

Nothing about it is medically wrong tho: Cold temperature increases the risk of getting UTI or a cold. I haven't phrased it well enough I see that, I assumed ppl would get what I mean :3 I also get the sense that my surrounding must have a weaker immune system in general than most redditors in this community😭

You know this sub is mostly women right?

This is the same silliness my MIL spouts. You get iill from viruses and bacteria, not from the cold. Now if you were already fighting off an illness AND were out in the cold for hours, then your body would be working extra hard, yes. But this is correlation, not causation. :marseychartscatter:

I never said it's causation??😭I said it potentially weakens your ability to fight it off :marseyill:

But you still have to be around sick people to catch anything. :marseybeanquestion:

I think it's very unlikely that not even one of them there would be sick already. But maybe times were different then, I can only judge from a post 2020 pov. :marseyvaxmaxx:

Lolllll this was my first reaction to this post too. Also, it's not like you catch a cold from literally being cold either...

When your body gets cold, blood flow is prioritized to your core to keep vital organs warm. This can reduce circulation to areas like your nose and throat, where many cold viruses thrive, potentially weakening your ability to fight off infections

You seem to have confused 'increased risk of UTI' with 'causes a UTI'. The infection would still need to have been caused by bacteria and there is no indication the potty facilities were less than adequate.

Also I don't remember anyone else at the party even wearing a coat, I don't think it was that cold.

I'd have assumed the other people were more prepared anyways and probably don't sleep alone if they sleep :3 And yes I mean increased risk of UTI~ :iseewhatyoudidthere:

I dated this girl in high school who constantly got UTIs, and she would just walk around school holding a family size jug of ocean spray cranberry juice. This was for probably all of senior year, it was a weird look.

That is... Not even remotely how science works. :marseysmug2:

Then I should sue my doctors ig :marseyshapiro:

Hahaha go for it? I'm literally not lying to you and it would be so easy to verify that :marseyserioushatfact:

ETA: Winter is cold and flu season bc of the amount of time people spend indoors in enclosed spaces together (primarily), not the pseudoscience explanation you provided.
