often it's because they know it's bad for you and feel some kind of shame for buying it so they don't want to buy it in bulk bc that's basically a promise to future self that you'll def be drinking all of it
so instead they buy a small amount at a time like "oh it's just a tiny bit I don't have to drink a lot" and by the time the month's over they've drank gallon after gallon of the stuff
