Whether or not you enjoy them recreationally kinda depends on your personality . They don't really do that much for me unless I'm coming down from stimulants so I was never really into them as a drug in and of themselves. I suspect that you're more likely to enjoy taking them/become addicted to them if you're a generally anxious person, which sucks because they're also the most effective short term anxiety reducer.

I know a guy that got deeeeeeeep into xanax addiction for a couple years and he had always had a bit of an anxiety problem. He has his shit together now (more than I do in fact) but it was not looking good for him during that time. Many many times I thought he was going to end up doing the xanax+alcohol death combo. My own vice was always uppers, so pretty much the opposite.
