Nah this one was just removing prison labor entirely.
The fun props to watch this year were 33 and 34. 33 was created by the AIDS Foundation to let counties do their own rent controls and 34 was created by landlords to nuke the AIDS foundation out of political-existence. AIDS has been throwing ads like crazy against it during NFL games so it's definitely some sort of crisis for them.

Blame San Francisco. They had every opportunity but squandered it and now we're sprawling like crazy in the South Bay and we barely have the public transit and local roads to hand such huge numbers of people who are commuting to work in a different section of the Bay.

Yes, but it's still dumb to call prison labor "slavery." Slavery is evil primarily for the owning people part, not the work part. Eliminating prison labor keeps all the "lost your freedom" fundamentals of doing time -- minus the work -- but work isn't even close to the top 10 reasons why prison is soul-destroying today.
I think we should have more prisons and a "prison choice" system. Mistreated prisoners should be able to prison-shop with some capped frequency. Private prisons should only be paid for the prisoners who choose to be there. I expect conditions would suddenly improve. Basically, the incentive should be for prisons to be as nice as possible while keeping dangerous people off the streets.
