These anti-penny comments prove dramatards are ultimately just redditors. Nobody even uses cash except with drug dealers and hookers, and those people aren't giving you change back in coins. I know nobody here has any dignity left but pretend you do and recognize it's trashy for a nation to not pay for the complete set of coins. "Oh no, children will get little pictures of Lincoln so they can learn math and develop respect for the dollar and make wishes in fountains." Maybe you fricks are unlucky but half my taxable income last year came from fountain wishes.
"Hurr durr the opportunity cost, if a million people waste three seconds each dealing with pennies, that's three million seconds lost for the economy!" No it isn't, being three seconds late to work does not mean you do three seconds less work and everyone with a job understands that. Teaching normies about opportunity cost has done more harm than good.
If you really want to save money just encourage people to bring in the massive reserves of pennies they keep in jars at home. Chemically clean them for a fraction of the price of minting new ones, then recirculate them as "throwback pennies." Some of them will be severely faded but that won't matter because nobody can profit from counterfeiting pennies.
