I heard this postulate about why weebs are sometimes neurodivergent and it makes so much sense. It said that since anime always has over the top voice acting and almost no subtlety, high functioning neurodivergents are able to watch it because they normally can't understand sarcasm. Also, since anime is animated, they have an easier time judging the exaggerated emotions displayed by characters.

I think it really boils down to slice of life romance shit never shows IRL consequences to certain actions, so aspies really like the low stakes fantasy element of it. srspost: anime is like books. some anime are good. most are bad. there isnt just 1 anime. 99% of books that are sold are romance novels or ya fantasy. most popular animes are one piece or dragon ball or pokemon or detective conan and similar, and nothing else.
