I used to work at a wealthy school district. Was assigned to the flagship elementary for the day doing tickets, looking for spare computer parts that the previous technician might have stockpiled somewhere so I could do makeshift repairs. Usually techs stuff them haphazardly in IDF/MDF (server) closets, Mechanical rooms, Electrical rooms, or abandoned classrooms.
So I find a completely unassuming Electrical room and use my master keys to go inside.
Nothing. Oh well. But I notice another door at the end of the hall labelled "Crawlspace".
Initially I didn't think much of it, there wouldn't be anything in a crawlspace. But as I was leaving I thought, "I never actually seen a crawlspace before." I figured crawlspaces were small, barely traversable spaces under sheds, or claustrophobic rooms in houses.
I open the door and found this.
A massive cavern that ran around the entire school. A park for the Underworld. Rolling hills, winding paths, wide open spaces. Just like a normal park, except all the grass was dead and there was no sky.
Mind you, I own a Nokia banana phone from the 2000's, so my picture quality was poor. I had documented every section of the cavern, but most of the pictures were unusable.
I must have have strolled down this dungeon for 20 minutes. When I got back to the entrance.... the door was locked from the outside.
Luckily, another tech was with me at the campus, so I was able to call him and he already knew exactly where I was, "oh, guess you found the dungeon huh?"
Over the course of the next month I would ask the office staff, custodians, upper level faculty if they knew that room existed. None did. In fact, the only people who seem to know it does exist are other technicians, and only because they use it as an unlimited storage space. According to our most senior tech (~18 years), this place isn't even fully documented in the plans.
