The Biden administration admitted Thursday that should not have posted a picture showing the faces of members of an elite U.S. Army Special Forces unit on assignment in Israel when it posted a photo of them in uniform shaking hands with the president.
Apologizing for the mishap, a White House spokesperson told Fox News, "As soon as this was brought to our attention, we immediately deleted the photo. We regret the error and any issues this may have caused."
The photo was posted on the White House's Instagram account late Wednesday and included the faces of four special forces soldiers as they met Biden, who was on his high-profile trip to Israel at the time amid its ongoing war with Hamas.
"In Israel, President Biden met with first responders to thank them for their bravery and the work they're doing in response to the Hamas terrorist attacks," the caption below the photo read.
The post received hundreds of thousands of views before finally being taken down about an hour later.
The Department of Defense's usual practice is to blur the photos of soldiers belonging to elite units of the U.S. military in official photos to protect their identities for safety and operational security reasons.
The blunder illicited sharp criticism from Republicans with some blasting the White House as incompetent.
The Republican National Committee's Alec Sears ridiculed the White House's blunder on X, formerly Twitter.
"So funny that the 'Adults in charge' are so on top of things they doxxed one of our most elite fighting forces in the midst of their deployment to the Middle East," Sears wrote.

You chuds here are living in an echo chamber where you think everyone is a homicidal turboracist. Look through all the numbers in this poll and wail in despair as you realize most Americans just want everyone to stop killing each other.
!nonchuds Our day is coming soon when Israel is forced back into the peace process and Hamas is destroyed.

Jamila al-Shanti was the widow of one of the founders of Hamas, assassinated 20 years ago. But she was an important figure in her own right, leading Hamas' women's organization. Long an influential voice, she was chosen in 2021 to be the first member of Hamas' politburo, the 15-member body at the top of the organization.
Unfortunately it looks like Hamas won't meet its goal of having 50% female board members any time soon. She was killed yesterday, allegedly by a bomb dropped right on her house. (Which is believable because the Israelis have tried to kill her the same way in the past.)
Blackrock is already threatening to pull its money out unless Hamas commits to lowering its carbon emissions.
Seriouspost tho: This is a reminder that just because a society oppresses women, it doesn't necessarily do it in exactly the same way as 1800s America. And certain women (especially those with family connections) are allowed to break the rules.

It is a reminder that information is often unreliable and disputed in the fog of war (especially on Twitter where misinformation is rampant). We all have a responsibility to ensure information we are sharing is from credible sources and to acknowledge as new reports come in.

Yet, it took you exactly 1 minute to spread the lie that Israel bombed a hospital in Gaza, when all the evidence show they didn’t.
