You can still set rigid schedules, or no schedule at all, you know. It has the advantage of having "emergency values" so you can leave the heat off but if the house drops to 50°F while you're on vacation, it'll kick in automatically
Plus I like seeing the outside temperature when i walk past it in the morning, no need to look at my phone
My biggest fricking gripe about Nest is that you have to put it in Heat or Cool mode to run the fan. I just want to move some air on a warm day without having to manually set it to Heat:60° to prevent anything from kicking in beyond the fan. Any cheap analog thermostat can do it.

I’d consider using a second Amazon app to order things. They locked my account years ago and still won’t talk to me about it. The only thing I can think of was I returned like 5 things right before the ban since it was absolute garbage thin plastic shit. Even charged back my Amazon prime subscription since they wouldn’t talk to me. I probably spent 10k+ a year there on business related shit mainly.

Yeah I have had like three or four things dropped off at the neighbors house instead of mine over the years so I’ll call up support and report it never showed up, they send it out again to me but my neighbor would bring the original package over a week later because he doesn’t pay attention to anything. @chiobu for pointing me at that) so I can avoid all the gigacorporate shit
tbh the speed isn't great, but that's because I don't a high end enough gpu. Accuracy is pretty good even with the small model. It can subtitle terribly porno with barely understandable audio and it gets most (90% +) of lines right and doesn't confuse s*x sounds for speech (most of the time)
VAD filter kinda sucks tho. Maybe I'm using it wrong but it throws off the timestamps for sub titles sometimes

That's very cool tbh. This is something I've been wanting to do. I don't want to get Nest or leave everything at the whim of a corp. The security people who installed my cameras and security system do automation and use a small provider, but I don't trust that either because small providers can either get bought out or disappear from lack of funds. Besides, it would be cool to do what you are doing and build your own. Like a cool personal project. I hate programming for corporate but doing it for your own projects is fun.
