Tbh I don't see why anyone is pretending like this is a victory for either side. The Russian offensive has been pathetic, moreso for even losing any ground to Ukraine whatsoever, but to pretend like Ukraine is making meaningful headway against them and not simply making desperate bids for bargaining chips is dishonest. Ukraine has been repeating this same maneuver of pushing into Russian territory, holding it for several weeks/months, then finding themselves surrounded and forced to retreat. At some point both sides are going to have to concede that all they're doing is throwing young men into a meat grinder to occasionally shuffle control over a few kilometers of border lines.
