Last night KC Chiefs were playing the Buffalo Bills. There was 1:25 left, and KC is at the 50. Here is the play.
You might notice one guy standing on the blue line, looking back at the center. You might notice his whole team is behind him. If you didn't, the refs did and brought back the cool play. This caused Patrick Mahomes to spiral.
Mahomes is seen yelling, bordering on tears immediately after.
After having some time to think it over, Mahomes then doubles down in the post game interview.

Note only WR's can get offensive offsides called, and they tend not to because well... it's not that hard to know you shouldn't be looking back at the ball.

Because his leg fricking broke. My point was that freeing up that salary cap doesn't mean the team is going to use it wisely. Their O-line is still swiss cheese and their receivers are really underperforming. For an organization that wanted to bring Rodgers in there for a few years and try to be a contender, IDK if Rodgers could salvage them. They can't even decide on a QB in his place because nobody is making it work.

i think they are easily in the playoffs if rodgers doesn't get hurt 6 seconds in to game 1.
they've won 5 games with basically you or me as QB this year! with even semi-competent QB play, which rodgers would give them at worst, and they get that first wild card spot.

It's usually defensive offsides. Now that I think of it I can't really think of any offensive examples, usually they get false starts called against them.

They're getting more consistent at calling them. If you watch the play this guy is clearly past the neutral zone and blatantly offsides. It was the right call even if it negated a really cool play and a game winning TD. KC is just used to having the refs on their team.

This is so weird by Mahomes his foot is ahead of the ball like too bad. Starting to make sense why he never upgraded to a best QB in the NFL calibre wife and stuck with his current mid R slur wife who acts like this all the time.
This is almost never called because usually the the WR who is the eligible reciever lining up on the line of scrimage will turn his head and point to the ref pre play and either get a head nod or a move back a bit hand wave. This guy didn't and had his whole foot infront of the ball while also being way closer to the ball then the guy on the end of the line normally is.
