NFL Playoffs Wildcard Betting Thread- The gang's all here edition

Artist is @ corndoggylol on twitter. Stalk him with a follow if you want to, child.

Goodbye Regular season. By my spreadsheet that was 272 NFL games you could bet on, meaning a single bet/game (which I did) would mean you risked 54,400 :marseycoin:. Being a savy better (like me) you surely got some return on investment. Over the season I netted +573 (week 18 killed me), so with all that risk and reward I'm up 1.053%! Look out for me Wall Street! :marseycapitalistmanlet:  I'm also -43,200 on Dramacoin scholarships to anyone who asked for money to gamble, while I never asked for anyone to pay it back @Freak-Off did to the tune of 12,600 dc essentially borrowed. You can see that I'm a true financial megamind. :marseybigbrain:

Playoff time: 4 threads left & 13 games left to bet on- WildCard (6), Divisional (4), Conference (2), and Super Bowl (1)

Here's the bracket- your team is in it. Right, anon?

If you weren't in it, your team surely is shaking off some dead weight and acquiring new talent so next year can be your year. Happy Black Monday, you got it champ! I was going to find a nice list of all the firings, but haven't found one yet. We'll see if that changes.

Packers lost 5 games to playoff teams by a total of 15 points. Literally a field goal was all that separated them from winning against the next tier of teams and they managed to lose them all.

Losing to the Bears and just injuring starters in what should have been an easy W just confirmed that we're fricking cooked. Chicago won its super bowl at least.

I've had the Packers on fraudwatch since they barely beat the Jags.

I will do a cathartic Packers post-mortem.

They ended up as the B-tier team who can easily beat worse teams and somehow lose every single time to anyone operating a tier higher (and then also the Bears). Staying competitive with top tier teams is nice, it's normally as good of a sign as a loss can be, but consistently losing those games means you're securely the lil-bro right now. This was only made worse by both the Lions and Vikings deciding they would be the top of the NFC this year.

Lots of Packers hopium depended on 1. the Defense getting better and 2. Later season 2023/aka Toyotathon J Love becoming the norm and 3. Josh Jacobs & Xavier McKinney being worth their weight in their contracts. 4. Finding a fricking kicker (Post-Mason Crosby, the Packers have been terrorized by kickers who can not be relied on for even routine 30-50 yard kicks.).

3. Happened big ups for signing these guys. 4. Happened, McManus broke a streak of several kickers who simply couldn't make it and of course he missed one in the Philly game to mock my trust in him. 1. For sure happened, but considering most of that defense were the same people as last year, the Jeff Hafley experiment worked. Basically every Packers game including that wildcard game, were made winnable by the Defense. Offense just didn't show up against good opponents; to break it down: the run game, lead by Jacobs absolutely showed up (but RB's 2-4 Wison, Brooks, and Loyd (& like 4 other receivers who get used as occasional RBs) all came through especially in 2.5 games when J Love was out and the offense was 70-80% running/screens). ##2## was the problem. This was not completely J Love problem. Packers receivers are nearly all on rookie contracts, they are young and also had a pretty high drop rate. They've also been often beaten up meaning WR1 is a revolving door that seems to depend on the game, whose playing and who happens to be hot that week. It's a strength because defenses don't know who to cover, but it's also a weakness because none of these guys seem to be consistent super heroes, they're going to miss passes, sometimes critical passes. The other side of ##2## is obviously Jordan Love dishing those passes accurately. He's got a better than most line keeping people out of his face, and he frustratingly wasn't that next-level toyotathon accurate and safe guy the offense needed him to be to actually compete in the playoffs.

Brass tax, the Packers were not winning a single game, much less actually competing unless J Love turned up to last year's end of the season/playoff mode. He was not the danger he was last season at this time despite having a better defense, a better run game, but also easily a tougher opponent. These Packers were a better team than last year and being a threat relied on him, he didn't show up and he didn't in several big games this year.

Hopefully he does the Ayahuasca thing or the darkness bullshit that got Aaron to GOAT up again this offsesason. :marseypraying:

past tense.

Colts was was a backup QB, and to be quite frank not a worry even with Malik Willis at the helm. They took the lead and kept it.

Jags game was bad and should have never been that close, but at least the offense was putting points on the board

Bears game was worse and the point at which I the doomer switch was thrown.

It's like you didn't even read my post :marseysigh#:

I did read it. Just thought that line about them being able to easily beat worse teams was cope. :marseyblowkiss:

A large part of any run as a fan is hope which is sometimes cope, brother. I really don't think I was being facetious about that while also being honest about where expectations were met vs not met. Jacksonville was the half game where Jordan Love had the injury and Malik Willis came out and got the job done in the 2nd half.

That was a game of disappointment/ horror (again) and hope. Because the Packers literally just paid this guy and he's hurt again and also he wasn't so great recovering, and hope that LaFleur is enough of an offensive trickster playcalling that even a backup we got at the 11th hour for a 6 or 6th round pick could still operate the young but skilled and hungry offense to victory against a number of defenses.

The capital-C cope was Jordan Love was going to be reliably at his top game once the injuries cleared up (this was the cope for many games and multiple injuries let this hope fester after both injuries). Packers with Love got to the late season and only reinforced my doomer-B tier nightmares as they got cleared by Vikes and Lions a 2nd time. Bears L was truly hope killing because the Bears didn't even do that well on either side.

Chicago beating the Packers is them winning the super bowl and Lions or Vikes could win the real one. This is truly a divisional horror story and I'd feel better if they lost it for some reason that wasn't J Love throwing 3 interceptions into the guts of defenders and giving me the worst Favre type flashbacks.

Bears twitter is already in "Here's how the North is ours next year" mode (they always do that, but they're more delusional than usual and earlier). Truly a titanic L.
