PA does not require Magisterial Judges to have any qualifications like a background in law or be a member of the bar. (All the other courts in PA do). All you need to do is get voted in.

My uncles a judge, he said it's almost always ruled self defense when a woman kills a man with little to no investigation unless it's immediately apparent. I asked for a case that was immediately apparent and he said "One time this lady ran over her husband 12 times"
